Thomas Hess
Thomas Hess has been Chief Economist of Swiss Re in Zurich and is head of Economic Research & Consulting with groups in Zurich, New York, Hong Kong, London and India. He is the editor of sigma, Swiss Reinsurance research publication, since 1994.The work of the groups is focused on analyzing the worldwide macro economic environment and capital markets as well as insurance and reinsurance markets worldwide, including the ART markets.
Mr. Hess started his career in 1981. at the Centre for Research of Economic Activity of the Technical University of Zurich, becoming a member of its Executive Board in 1990. In this capacity, he was responsible for business cycle and financial market analysis and forecasting of the research institute.
He holds degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Mainz, Germany.
